07/06/06 - Tustin, California USA, Permlight Products announced today that its sales for LED residential products has risen dramatically over the last quarter as energy prices are rising and new environmental laws outlaw the disposal of mercury laden fluorescent. The company stated that its line of 4" and 6" recessed LED can sales have risen over 1000% from 1st Quarter to 2nd Quarter 2006 results and that over 15% of its overall revenues are now in LED residential lighting versus 2% in 2005. The company's patented thermal management technology and its patent pending line voltage dimming coupled together with its high brightness California Title 24 compliant warm white LEDs is offering home builders and home improvement companies a low cost lighting solution. Permlight's recessed LED cans consume between 5-15Watts and allow electricians to run up to 180 lights on a 20 Amp circuit versus 20 incandescent lights. "We are finding that with increased energy prices, inflation, environmental laws, and new energy laws that our LED recessed lights are not only lower power to the consumer but lower cost than incandescent or fluorescent to the home builder," commented Manuel Lynch, President and CEO. "The massive reduction in power for the same output levels of warm white light is having homebuilders change the way they are wiring homes and allowing them to reduce circuit breakers and cut the amount of wiring needed -- this results in savings that more than cover the cost of the LED lights," continued Lynch. The company's recessed can lights won the GreenBuilding product of the year award in 2005 and have already been used extensively throughout Southern and Northern California. The company stated that based on increased energy prices and recent sales that it expects to capture 2% of the USA homebuilding market by the end of 2006.
