iLED, the new era of LED surgical lights

LED surgical light08/02/2006 - The iLED OR lamp by medical system manufacturer TRUMPF Medical Systems, based near Munich, Germany, will set new standards.
Thanks to innovative lighting technology, it is now possible to use LEDs (light-emitting diodes) to illuminate demanding environments. One example is in the operating room. Light-emitting diodes have a variety of technical advantages over conventional halogen and gas discharge lamps which include low heat generation, adjustable light characteristics and a nearly unlimited life cycle. Compared to conventional lighting systems, the adaptive light of the new TRUMPF iLED permits better adaptation to individual surgical situations – a feature that is unique worldwide and revolutionises the work of the surgeon.

High performance LED

The iLED OR lamp is the first product of its kind to use high performance LEDs. The main advantage of this innovative technology is that the color temperature can be adjusted at numerous levels. This will enable the lighting to be perfectly attuned to any OR situation.

The white and color LEDs make this possible. The light temperature can be adjusted between 3,500 and 5,000 Kelvin. This type of precision lighting is ideal for contra-imaging of the connective tissue areas where the blood flow varies greatly.

In addition with the iLED, whose total luminosity is 160,000 Lux, absolute shadow-free illumination can be achieved. The low heat emissions of the LEDs as well as their almost unlimited service life are further advantages of the iLED.
