International Symposium on the Science and Technology of Lighting - LS13
|When||Jun 24, 2012 03:00 PM to Jun 29, 2012 01:00 PM|
|Where||RPI Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center, Troy, New York, USA|
|Contact Name||Lenda Lyman|
|Add event to calendar||vCal iCal|
The LS organization recently decided to modify the series name (previously called International Symposium on the Science and Technology of Light Sources) to better reflect the addition of human factors and lighting applications into the conference program.
The LS community's interests have reflected contemporary lighting technology during its nearly 40-year history and this has resulted in a growing and significant representation of solid-state lighting (SSL) technologies in its program. The conference will include a forum for scientists, engineers and designers to discuss all aspects of fundamental and applied research on thermal, discharge, and plasma technologies, as well as SSL, specifically white light emitting diodes (LEDs), in a stimulating and informed atmosphere.
Lectures and Posters
The conference comprises lectures, posters, and special sessions. All lectures will be in English.
The LS13 committee is particularly interested in receiving contributed papers that fall within the following four research categories: solid-state lighting systems, applications of novel lighting systems, metrics for assessing the benefits of lighting systems, and thermal and discharge/plasma lighting systems. Submit a paper.
Posters will be displayed throughout the entire week of the conference. On each of the full program days there will be poster sessions in the morning and afternoon. During the afternoon poster sessions, refreshments will be provided. Authors of posters are expected to attend their posters for the full day on which these are scheduled in the program; on the other days poster authors are free to view and discuss the other posters. This will allow for those attending the conference to make plans for visiting posters at times when the authors will be present to answer questions.
A Welcome Reception will be held on Sunday at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center. On Monday evening at 18:00, a get-together party with refreshments will be held on the Rensselaer campus. A conference banquet will be held on Wednesday. These events are included in the conference fee.
Tours of the Lighting Research Center will also be available.
Information on additional social events is forthcoming and will be available as part of the registration process.
Presentations and posters will be held at the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center on the Rensselaer campus.
The Lighting Research Center is part of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute located in Troy, New York, along the scenic Hudson River. Lodging for LS13 will be available on the Rensselaer campus at very attractive rates.
Troy is part of New York's progressive Tech Valley region, where rural charm, urban excitement, and cutting-edge science attract visitors year-round in pursuit of the best in outdoor recreation, arts and entertainment, and world-class research and education facilities.
