ESYLUX Introduces APC Ethernet Link for Building-Wide DALI-2 Lighting Control

New module connects up to 16 DALI-2 lines for centralized control, cross-line functionality, and enhanced energy efficiency.

ESYLUX has expanded its DALI-2 lighting control portfolio with the APC Ethernet Link, a compact communication module that enables building-wide networking of up to 16 DALI-2 control lines. The solution allows facility managers and building operators to centrally switch lighting on and off, recall lighting scenes, manage groups, and implement cross-line swarm functionality while maintaining the familiar configuration workflow through ESYLUX DALI-2 Application Controllers (APCs).

A single ESYLUX DALI-2 Application Controller already supports up to 16 groups and 64 control devices, making it suitable for large building areas. With the APC Ethernet Link, multiple APC-controlled DALI-2 lines can now be interconnected, providing centralized management across entire buildings or campuses.

Simple Ethernet Integration

Each DALI-2 line is equipped with one APC Ethernet Link, which is installed either in the control cabinet or on the ceiling and connected via a CAT5 cable to an Ethernet switch. The module is powered through Power over Ethernet (PoE), either directly from a PoE-enabled switch or via an external PoE injector. Network configuration is performed automatically, simplifying installation and commissioning.

Centralized Control Across Multiple Lines

The APC Ethernet Link enables bidirectional communication between connected DALI-2 lines, supporting centralized on/off switching, scene activation, and advanced group management. This makes it possible to coordinate lighting scenarios across multiple areas, adapting building-wide illumination to changing room layouts or occupancy requirements.

The solution also extends ESYLUX’s swarm function across multiple DALI-2 lines. In this mode, occupied zones receive full illumination while unoccupied areas automatically dim to a comfortable background lighting level. When the building is completely vacant, lighting throughout the connected network can be switched off automatically, further reducing energy consumption.

Familiar Configuration and Flexible Applications

All cross-line functions are configured using the existing ESYLUX DALI-2 Application Controllers, which are available either as integrated APC presence detectors or DIN rail-mounted APC modules. Push buttons and BMS presence detectors can be incorporated as input devices to support applications such as presence- and daylight-dependent constant light control as well as energy-efficient Human Centric Lighting (HCL) installations.

With the APC Ethernet Link, ESYLUX extends the scalability of its DALI-2 lighting control system, enabling intelligent, centralized management for larger buildings while preserving the flexibility and energy-saving capabilities of distributed lighting control.
