SphereOptics Offers New On-Site Uniform Light Source Calibration Service
SphereOptics is pleased to announce the launch of our new on‑site calibration service for uniform light sources, delivered in partnership with Labsphere. This service is designed for organisations whose systems are too large, integrated, or mission‑critical to be shipped for factory calibration.
Uniform light sources naturally change over time — lamp ageing, coating degradation, and environmental influences all affect radiance output and spectral behaviour. Regular, traceable calibration is essential to maintain measurement accuracy. With our new on‑site service, customers can now ensure their systems stay within specification without the downtime, risks, or logistical challenges of transport.
Factory‑Level Calibration, Performed at Your Facility
Labsphere’s certified engineers travel directly to your site to perform a complete system assessment and NIST‑traceable radiance calibration using the same proven procedures applied at the factory. The service includes:
- Full system inspection, including sphere coatings, lamps, baffles, and internal optical components
- Lamp replacement and verification, with before‑and‑after radiance measurements
- Optional power supply calibration to confirm correct operating currents
- NIST‑traceable radiance calibration, performed using transfer standards, Spectralon® targets, and validated measurement methods
- Comprehensive uncertainty analysis, following GUM guidelines
This process ensures your calibration is fully traceable, auditable, and defensible for compliance or quality management requirements.
Why Choose On‑Site Calibration?
On‑site calibration is ideal when:
- Your uniform light source cannot be shipped due to size, system integration, or mission‑critical operation
- You need to avoid downtime associated with return‑to‑factory calibration
- Your system’s radiance levels are suitable for field calibration (validated in advance by SphereOptics and Labsphere)
For some systems, an Optical Validation Kit may also be deployed to verify calibration levels and ensure optimal measurement conditions.
Supporting All Uniform Light Sources
Whether you operate a Labsphere system or a uniform light source from another manufacturer, SphereOptics offers:
- Traceable, defendable radiance output
- Maintained spectral accuracy and uniformity
- Improved system reliability and lifespan
- Confidence during audits and compliance checks
How to Book On‑Site Calibration
Booking is simple. Provide SphereOptics with your system model, age, and usage conditions. We will coordinate the visit, and Labsphere engineers will bring all required tools, perform the calibration at your facility, and deliver a full calibration report and certificate.
