Infineon to Acquire Wolfspeed for US Dollar 850 Million in Cash
Infineon to Acquire Wolfspeed for US Dollar 850 Million in Cash Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) and Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) announced today that Infineon has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Wolfspeed Power and RF division (“Wolfspeed”) of Cree. The deal also includes the related SiC wafer substrate business for power and RF power. The purchase price for this planned all-cash transaction is US Dollar 850 million (approximately Euro 740 million). This acquisition will enable Infineon to provide the broadest offering in compound semiconductors and will further strengthen Infineon as a leading supplier of power and RF power solutions in high-growth markets such as electro-mobility, renewables and next-generation cellular infrastructure relevant for IoT. Photoptics 2016 Report PHOTOPTICS 2016 – The 4th International Conference on Photonics, Optics and Laser Technology took place in Rome - Italy, from February 27 to 29. PHOTOPTICS 2016 was held covering a broad range of related fields on Optics, Photonics and Lasers, covering both theoretical and practical aspects. After a strict selection process, the PHOTOPTICS program included full papers (13% of submissions) and short papers (28% of submissions). Additionally 19% of submissions papers were accepted for poster presentation. Osram Names Lamps Business Branch LEDVANCE Osram, one of the world's leading lighting manufacturers, continues to make progress with the carve-out of its general lighting lamps business. After the supervisory board of Osram Licht AG approved the carve-out of the unit in June 2015, the name of the new company has now also been decided. “We have opted for a combination of the terms ‘LED’ and ‘advance’ and will call the newly established company LEDVANCE,” said Olaf Berlien, Chief Executive Officer of Osram Licht AG. “The name reflects the trend toward LED in the lighting market as well as the opportunities arising from this development – opportunities LEDVANCE will actively exploit.” Read more »
