Gamma Scientific Acknowledged as EPA-Recognized Laboratory for Third-Party ENERGY STAR™ Lighting Certification

Gamma Scientific, manufacturers of precision testing equipment for light measurement, has been acknowledged as an EPA-recognized laboratory to perform third-party ENERGY STAR™ certification testing for lighting products. This recognition allows Gamma Scientific to provide ENERGY STAR certification testing for a variety of lighting products, including LED lamps, luminaires, automotive lighting and street lights.

Gamma Scientific has been committed to providing world class testing services and equipment for the lighting community since 1961,” said Richard Austin, President, Gamma Scientific. “This recognition demonstrates Gamma Scientific’s dedication to supplying our customers with affordable light measurement solutions, while also assisting consumers with finding energy efficient lighting products.”

Third Party ENERGY STAR Certification:
The ENERGY STAR program was created by the US Department of Energy and US Environmental Protection Agency in 1992 to assist consumers in finding energy efficient products. The EPA requires that all ENERGY STAR products must be certified by a third-party to ensure consumer confidence in the ENERGY STAR program and label. Product testing is done in an EPA-recognized laboratory that has been verified to meet strict, international standards for quality and competency. Ongoing tests are also required to ensure that products continue to deliver superior energy efficiency and performance.

Gamma Scientific’s laboratory is currently listed as an EPA-Recognized Laboratory under the following categories:
•    Luminaires: Solid State Directional
•    Integral LED Lamps (Directional/Non-Directional and Decorative): ILL Omnidirectional/Directional
•    Integral LED Lamps (Directional/Non-Directional and Decorative): Integral LED Lamps (Decorative)
•    Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs): GU 24 Lamps
•    Certified Subcomponent Database (CSD): Fluorescent Ballasts
•    Certified Subcomponent Database (CSD): HID Ballasts

NVLAP Accreditation and Calibration Services:
The Gamma Scientific laboratory (NVLAP Lab Code 200823-0) has also been awarded accreditation by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) under the Energy Efficient Lighting Products Program and is ISO 17025 compliant.  This accreditation allows Gamma Scientific to perform LM-79 tests for Solid State Lighting Luminaires and other photometric measurements.  In addition, Gamma Scientific offers comprehensive spectral measurement services for the testing of displays, night-vision equipment and automotive lighting.
