LED Expo Surpasses Exhibitor and Visitor Records for its 13th Edition

With a strong emphasis on energy efficient lighting technology, LED Expo played host to 18,557 visitors, breaking multiple records over the previous edition in exhibitor numbers, visitor numbers and overall exhibition space. Inaugurated by Delhi Power Minister, Shri Satyendra Jain, the 13th edition showcased a spectacular array of product innovations and new launches by 260 companies from eight countries coupled with an influential line-up of 12 summit speakers.

The new format with product-wise hall segmentation allowed visitors to experience LED & lighting innovations through a new structured exhibition format and ensured exhibitors met the right buyers and a more targeted clientele. Product innovations like the new LED emergency bulbs by FIEM, LED USB flash lights, programmable LED lights by Fulham, new range of LED Bollard lights by Cosmo LED lights, LED light kits for automobiles that can increase mileage by Ledlink, mobile controlled and touch screen switches and designer home decor lights among others were widely appreciated by business visitors, led to several business closures and even made headlines.

Mr J. Joseph, Director, Cosmo LED Lights said: “We launched a new range of wall, gate and bollard lights and the visitor response has been remarkable and we were able to close deals worth crores. Although India remains a price conscious market, the market is maturing and adoption rate is certainly picking up. We were also looking for vendors for some of our product lines and met them here. The entire experience has been just WOW!”

Mr Ita Lin & Mr Ivan Hu, CEO, MLS India who came to India specially for the exhibition reported good networking and remarked: “We will be very busy after the expo to connect with potential buyers we met here and close deals. LED Expo is important for our growth strategy and we try and project ourselves here as much as we can.”

Confirmations that LED is the future of lighting were discussed everywhere with government and business professionals bringing to light details about upcoming projects. One such project will be by the Railways Ministry which, as part of the Prime Minister’s initiative, has decided to change all the existing lights in Railways to LED lights in the next one year. Mr Manu Goel – Executive Director, Ministry of Railways said: “LED Expo is encouraging the industry to change its perspective to switch to green and efficient lighting by adopting LED lights and bulbs. As part of the Prime Minister’s initiative, we have decided to change all the existing lights in the Railways to LED lights in the next year and special provisions are being made. We are here to source for these LED lights and are keen to work with a local company to complete this project in the stipulated time.”

Ms Devashree Sharma – Engineer, NTL Electronics Pvt. Ltd. said: “People nowadays are aware of the benefits of LEDs hence there is a tremendous demand to use LED lighting and fixtures from our clients. LED Expo has proved to be a great platform for us to source for our upcoming projects.”

Titan Timeproducts will also be seen venturing into the LED segment in the next couple of months. Mr M.J Shilesh, Unit Head, Titan Timeproducts Ltd. who was attending the LED Summit to learn more about sector advancements and opportunities said: “Titan is preparing to get into LED Business with plans to start within the next couple of months. The summit has served my purpose and I am taking back a lot of information from here that will help us enter the segment.”

Besides giving an overview of Indian Market Scenario of LED Lighting and Components, the summit touched upon important aspects to bring down costs without compromising quality through smart designing techniques with polycarbonates, polyamide thermally conductive plastic solutions and developments of led based PV lighting system for different applications. One of the eminent speakers, Mr Shyam Sujan, Secretary General, ELCOMA said at the summit: “LEDs are the future of lighting which is slated to become more interactive in a way that we can communicate and also get information from it. LED Expo is one of the best platforms I have seen that can propel growth and business for the sector.”

The next edition of LED Expo is scheduled in financial capital of the country from 12 – 14 May, 2016 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The trade fair is headed by the biennial Light + Building event, which will take place from 13 – 18 March 2016 in Frankfurt, Germany.
