ERCO New Products 2011: Visual Comfort and Efficiency with LEDs

From museums to fashion stores, LEDs are radically changing the face of architectural lighting. For ERCO, competence in optoelectronics is one crucial factor in successfully translating the potential of LEDs for visual comfort and energy efficiency into significant benefits for the user. This is why the vast majority of innovations which the company presents in the New Products 2011 catalogue (released in January) come from the field of LED technology. The new lighting tools can be seen in actual use at the EuroShop in Düsseldorf, which runs from the 26th of February to the 2nd of March 2011. At Stand A44, Hall 11, at this, the world’s largest trade fair for the retail industry, ERCO will be showing how today’s LED lighting tools can be used to satisfy an extensive range of lighting tasks, demonstrating the benefits that they offer to the retail sector. The entire trade fair stand will be illuminated using LEDs, resulting in a 65% reduction in required energy than for the same stand in 2008.

Innovations Solve Typical Retail Lighting Situations:
Taking centre stage at the company’s EuroShop exhibition will be the new Logotec LED range of spotlights and recessed spotlights - ERCO’s first spotlight range to be exclusively designed and optimised for LEDs. Also on display will be the innovative additions to the Quintessence range of recessed luminaires and to the Cantax, Emanon and Optec spotlight product ranges. The trade fair stand will show how the new lighting tools can be used to provide differentiated solutions for typical shop lighting tasks. It will demonstrate the effect that different lighting qualities have on various colours, shapes and materials. The stand concept provides proof that it is precisely in retail lighting that LEDs can fully capitalise on their strengths of longevity and great energy efficiency, and are ideal for every conceivable lighting task.

LED Spotlights – from Narrow Spot to Wallwash:
ERCO’s innovative Spherolit lens technology now includes these optional light distributions in the new Logotec LED range of spotlights. Collimators and interchangeable Spherolit lenses, available in narrow spot, spot, flood, wide flood, oval flood and wallwash versions, produce all the light distributions required for differentiated lighting design. They present a range of equipment so extensive that it is unique in the field of LED lighting. The underlying lighting engineering principle is not only flexible but also highly efficient. The result is that the light output ratio (LOR) of a Logotec LED lens wallwasher is twice as high as that of a conventional lens wallwasher. In addition to the track-mounted spotlights, a ceiling-integrated version for efficient wallwashing and accent lighting with LEDs is also available in the form of the Logotec LED recessed spotlight. Also benefiting from the new possibilities offered by the Spherolit lenses are the Cantax, Emanon and Optec spotlight ranges. In addition to the LED spotlights with spot and flood characteristics already available, ERCO now adds the light distributions of wide flood, oval flood and wallwash. This means that wide-flood and oval beams as well as efficient vertical illuminance are available from these product ranges too.

LED Accent in Quintessence Product Range:
The LED products from the Quintessence range of recessed luminaires have also received new light intensity distributions. LED recessed spotlights with “narrow spot” Spherolit lenses for accent lighting – even from great heights – are now available, as are “oval flood” versions with axially symmetrical, flood-type light intensity distribution. The Quintessence product range is rounded off by new sizes for LED recessed luminaires for ambient lighting and vertical illuminance. This means that discerning future-proof lighting concepts can be implemented both in the retail sector and also in all other fields of architecture.

Many other well-established ERCO product ranges for indoor and outdoor areas have also been expanded with new or more powerful LED products, which include an LED version of the Lucy task light. The New Products catalogue also features new light distributions and product range additions for luminaires with HIT lamps in both indoor and outdoor areas. All the innovations will be documented online on the ERCO Light Scout website (www.erco.com) as of January 2011 and the printed version of the New Products 2011 catalogue can be requested from info@erco.com.

About ERCO:
ERCO GmbH, Lüdenscheid, is one of the leading companies in the luminaire industry. The family business founded in 1934 now operates with over 60 subsidiaries, branches and agencies all around the world. Working together with internationally renowned designers, lighting engineers and architects, ERCO develops hard and software for all areas of architectural lighting: luminaires and lighting systems for indoor and outdoor areas, as well as lighting controls and software for scenographic lighting applications. In keeping with the corporate philosophy of "Light not luminaires," lighting equipment is not offered simply as furnishing for rooms, but rather luminaries are offered as instruments of lighting design. Many demanding architectural projects are illuminated using ERCO equipment, including the Berlin Reichstag, the Louvre in Paris and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
