Tridonic Acquires NovaLight

Tridonic, a leading global provider of lighting control systems, is expanding its expertise in outdoor lighting with the acquisition of NovaLight. NovaLight, formerly a division of Novaccess S.A., develops intelligent, cloud-based control systems. The NovaLight team has been working under the Tridonic umbrella since August 2025. Tridonic has also acquired the IP rights for the product portfolio and now offers the solutions directly to the market.

With this step, Tridonic is driving forward the development and provision of future-proof technologies based on open industry standards. In doing so, the company is supporting the digitalization of outdoor lighting in cities and transport infrastructures and offering users greater flexibility. At the same time, Tridonic helps to ensure that investments can continue to be used reasonably and economically in the face of future technical innovations and adjustments, without having to replace existing systems prematurely.

NovaLight - cloud-based platform as the basis for further development

The NovaLight platform already controls and monitors approximately 30,000 lighting points in Switzerland. By integrating this technology, Tridonic is expanding its offering in the field of outdoor lighting and is currently working on a new generation of control systems that use open standards. This architecture facilitates the integration into existing and future systems.

Tridonic also provides support and assistance for existing NovaLight projects, so that customers can count on reliable service during and after the acquisition.

Future-proof solutions based on open standards

The new system generation is currently under development and relies on open industry standards. In this way, Tridonic ensures that its solutions remain compatible with existing and future technologies and that users are not dependent on individual manufacturers. For operators and planners, this means greater flexibility and the assurance that their investments in street lighting will remain technically compatible and economically viable throughout the typical life cycle of 12 to 15 years.

Among other things, the plans include:

  • Integrated and gateway-free architecture: Control units with built-in gateways enable direct Internet connectivity and reduce system complexity.
  • High scalability: The systems can be flexibly expanded from small installations to large-scale city-wide networks. They support modern DALI modules and stable sub-GHz radio connections (868 and 920 MHz).

Expansion of the Tridonic product range

By integrating NovaLight, Tridonic is expanding its portfolio and enabling the integration of control systems for outdoor lighting into comprehensive lighting management solutions. NovaLight's user-friendly interface makes it easy to operate and monitor outdoor lighting and meets the high standards of convenience and efficiency that Tridonic pursues in the development of its products.

With this step, Tridonic is strengthening its expertise in the field of outdoor lighting and offering customers flexible, interoperable, and future-proof solutions for the efficient control and monitoring of lighting systems.
