LED Producer e:lumix Brings New Dynamics into the Lighting Industry

e:lumix, Augsburg, Germany, April 4th, 2011 - The following information was given to LED professional in an interview with Mr. Zabel, CTO of e:lumix. e:lumix will be delivering about 200 million LEDs of the type UltraHighBright 3528 LED to China in 2011. Through strategic measures and the simplification of chip production, e:lumix has been able to place their new LED Series – UltraHighBright 3528 LED in the mid-price sector for the Chinese market. A contract was signed with one of the largest Chinese LED-dealers last week.

The manufacturing capacity at the e:lumix factory Shi Yan was increased to 800 million chip units per year.  Additional lines were created by ASM/Han S Laser in order to fulfil the market requirements.  At the same time the implementation of the existing chip concepts in the 3014 casing is being worked on.  This will lead to a substantially higher packing density of the LEDs which will lower costs for the implementation of lamp designs.  For this purpose, three special bonders from Kullicke & Soffa in the USA were purchased for the Augsburg factory.

An improved version of the LED 3528 chip with an increased light yield got positive results after the pre-series was tested, whereby numerous pre-orders were made. The chip delivers 24 Lumen at 20mA LED currents.

In June, 2011 e:lumix will be exhibiting at the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition in China.  This is where they will be presenting the new COB-Cluster.

This week there is going to be a meeting with a leading LED manufacturer for the purpose of  expanding the High-Power business since e:lumix and their partner share many of the same customers.  e:lumix will be talking about sales support for Germany because they intend to incorporate selected products into their product portfolio (primarily high-bay lamps).

There will be a premarket company founded shortly called e:lumix OptoSemi GmbH.  This company will act as the hub for e:lumix technology and will chiefly be administrating patents and licenses.

At the moment, e:lumix is working on a luminescent material for the area of High-CRI (>96) with a well-known German manufacturer .  The first results will be presented at the LED professional Symposium +Expo 2011 (www.lps2011.com) in Bregenz, Austria.

The last preparations are now being carried out for the IPO of e:lumix LED
Technologie GmbH.  A press conference is planned on May 26th, 2011.
