Lumitech's PI-LED-Technology is awarded with the Austrian National Award for Innovation 2007

Lumitech company was nominated for inventing the highly efficient PI-LED®-technology. Due to this technology and its unrivalled properties, the creation of light could be revolutionised in many ways. The renowned members of the jury chose the Burgenland high-tech company to win this competition. The much sought after trophy was awarded to Erwin Baumgartner, the Lumitech managing director, by Christine Marek, State Secretary of Economics and Labour.

Besides the manifold beneficial applications of the PI-LED®-technology, it is, above all, the energy savings of up to 85 % compared to traditional bulbs that sets new and international standards in this specific area. Thus, the impact of this new technology on the future active climate protection cannot be foreseen as yet.

This new technology could replace the traditional bulbs within a few years. However, the first actual applications will be carried out in the following sectors:

• Lighting in museums
• Lighting in shops
• Lighting in offices
• Lighting in hospitals
• Street lighting

Erwin Baumgartner, CEO of Lumitech: "The Lumitech team is very glad to receive this highly-esteemed award and deems it its duty to even more press ahead with the development of the LED-technology. There is no doubt that the light technology will not least play a vital role in the field of environmental protection in the next few years."
