Nuventix Designed Synjet Cooler for Breakthrough Energy Saving Philips Fortimo LED System

At Light+ Building, Nuventix, Inc., electronics cooling technology innovator and LED industry thermal management specialist, announced its SynJet cooling option for the Philips Fortimo LED Downlight module. The Nuventix product is an active cooling solution utilizing SynJet fanless air cooling technology that offers silent operation, long life, and optimal cooling for the Philips Fortimo Downlight LED Module (DLM) products.

“Nuventix’ SynJet air cooling technology is ideal for LED luminaires and is the only solution that offers ultra high reliability active cooling for LED lighting,” said Jim Balthazar, president and CEO, Nuventix. “The Philips Fortimo DLM products are just one example of how the use of SynJet technology in luminaire design is accelerating the commercial viability of LED illumination.”

Philips Fortimo LED DLM products are directed toward the general lighting market, delivering high quality and excellent color with increased energy efficiency. The unit is designed for use with 1100 and 2000 lumens Fortimo LED Downlight module products. Additionally, its small size, only 54 mm in height, allows it to be used in tight spaces permitting great flexibility in installation and miniaturized luminaire design.

How SynJet Technology Works:
The SynJet module creates turbulent, pulsated air-jets that can be directed precisely to locations where thermal management is needed for industrial spot or chip cooling requiring high reliability and flexible form-factor implementations.

 The vortex-dominated SynJet flow enhances small-scale mixing near the heated surfaces to yield higher effective heat transfer at low-volume flow rates compared to conventional air movers. The SynJet flow is created using Nuventix’ patented actuator technology and proprietary fluidic packaging expertise. High flexibility, reliability and effective active cooling are all necessary to create LED lighting solutions for retail, business and consumer audiences.
