Orb Optronix: New Partnerships to Force Product Development and Services

Orb Optronix announced two new strategic partnerships, one with Labsphere to force new product development, production and sales opportunities, and one with Future Lighting Solutions as an Integration Member providing Future Lighting Solutions’ customers access to Orb Optronix’ services.

Labsphere and Orb Optronix Announce Collaboration:
North Sutton, New Hampshire and Kirkland, Washington (June 4, 2009) – Light measurement companies Labsphere and Orb Optronix have announced a far-reaching collaboration to encompass product development, manufacturing and distribution.
Under the new agreement, select Orb Optronix LED test instrumentation will be manufactured at Labsphere’s New Hampshire facility. The two companies will cooperate on the development of a broad range of new LED, display and light metrology products. Orb Optronix also plans to expand its thriving LED measurement services laboratory with the addition of several Labsphere systems.
In addition, the companies will now share sales channels. Orb Optronix’s LED characterization systems and software will be sold through Labsphere’s worldwide sales organization while Labsphere products will be available through Orb Optronix’s United States distribution network.
Orb Optronix President Dave Jenkins commented, “We’ve developed strong product design relationships with a number of high profile companies through our Engineering Services Group and LED Measurement Laboratory. Now that we are ready to release hardware and software targeted at the LED test and measurement markets, we’ve partnered with the premier light metrology organization and look forward to a long and fulfilling distribution and product development relationship with Labsphere.”
“Dave Jenkins and his partners and associates at Orb Optronix have built a world-class product development organization in an incredibly short time,” adds Labsphere President Kevin Chittim. “We believe the partnership between Orb and Labsphere will offer our customers incredible benefits in terms of innovation, customer service and value. In addition, Orb’s Washington location will allow us to provide expanded measurement services capability in the Western United States.”
Orb Optronix Added as a Future Lighting Solutions LED Systems Integration Member:
Orb Optronix has recently been named an Integration Member of Future Lighting Solutions’ Network. This provides Future Lighting Solutions’ customers access to Orb Optronix’ LED product development services, LED measurement lab and LED measurement products. “Orb is unique in its ability to perform complete system analyses for LED luminaire and product design,” said Dave Jenkins, Orb’s president. He continued, “Being part of the FLS network will allow us to help even more customers implement LED technology.”
Orb provides LED product design services that include custom electronics, optical, mechanical, thermal and algorithm design. Orb has successfully implemented LUXEON™ products from Philips Lumileds in many illumination products from machine vision and medical lighting to street, transportation and architectural lighting. Sometimes the product designs are simple, yet other times, applications demand superior performance and require complex electrical, optical and thermal designs that employ algorithms for advanced calibration and real time compensation.
Jenkins continued, “Orb Optronix is one of the few companies in the world addressing all of the issues of LED product design from concept to production.” Quite often the best solutions in LED product development involve such options as managing the LED supply chain, on board current correction as a function of lifetime or as a function of temperature, and calibration of the LED lighting devices as part of production. Orb’s engineering expertise includes, software, firmware, electronics, opto-mechanical, thermal and illumination design, Orb also offers customized LED test and measurement systems including customized calibration stations for LED luminaire production and QC. Orb’s LED measurement laboratory performs electro-thermal-optical characterizations as a separate service for customers.
The ability to support companies with complete LED product systems design and to provide advanced LED measurement services, as well as production measurement and calibration equipment is entirely unique to Orb Optronix.
