SemiLEDs closed investment round with Powerchip Semiconductor Group

Milpitas, California and Hsinchu, Taiwan– SemiLEDs Corporation and PowerChip Group jointly announced today that SemiLEDs has secured an investment by Powerchip Semiconductor Corp., Taiwan's biggest DRAM Company.

SemiLEDs is currently the sole maker of metal-base LED in the world. It specializes in high-brightness LED with breakthrough products in blue, green and NUV. It aims at serving the general lighting market, backlight, automobile, among other markets.
"We are thrilled to have PowerChip Group as an investor and partner," said Trung Doan, Chairman & CEO of SemiLEDs. "The new partnership represents a new chapter for SemiLEDs and a tremendous validation for SemiLEDs’ business and technologies."
