DOE Invitation to Participate SSL Demonstrations Program

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) invites participation in the DOE Solid-State Lighting Technology Demonstration program. DOE SSL demonstration projects showcase high-performance LED products in a variety of commercial and residential applications, providing hard data on product performance and cost-effectiveness. DOE seeks to assemble demonstration teams that match host sites with appropriate products and partners. To learn more about how to participate in DOE SSL demonstrations, or to download applications for manufacturers, host sites, or utilities/energy efficiency organizations, visit: http://www.netl.doe.gov/ssl/techdemos.htm.

About DOE Solid-State Lighting Technology Demonstrations:
DOE SSL Technology Demonstrations showcase high-performance LED products for general illumination in a variety of commercial and residential applications. Demonstration results provide real-life experience and data on state-of-the-art SSL product performance and cost effectiveness. These results connect DOE technology procurement efforts with large-volume purchasers and provide buyers with reliable data on product performance.

How to Participate in DOE SSL Demonstrations
DOE seeks to establish demonstration teams that typically consist of a product manufacturer, a host site, and an energy efficiency organization or local utility (if applicable). The first “Invitation to Participate” issued in March 2007, and the first demonstrations were initiated in August 2007.

Other Ways to Participate – Coming Soon:
For parties conducting their own demonstrations and interested in widely sharing their results, or for demonstrations currently under way wishing to access available resources, DOE is developing a Demonstration Checklist and How-to Guide. Demonstration teams meeting the Checklist requirements and/or developed using the How-to Guide may be able to access DOE support on a case-by-case basis. Successful demonstrations developed through this approach will be promoted via the DOE SSL website, events, and other appropriate venues and means.

The DOE SSL Demonstration Checklist and How-to Guide will be posted on DOE web page in the coming weeks.
