With the new CERA 28 product line, Georg Bechter Licht has a porcelain luminaire that shines like a light-ball, velvety with a deep and brilliant light. Handmade in the Viennese factory of Hermann Seiser, each luminaire is unique. Learn more about this special story of creation:

Wafer-thin light breaks through an almost invisible membrane, reduced to fragility, into the open space. In the Cera-C model, the diffused light is combined with an opening on the underside, creating a brilliantly deep glow.

Crafted in the Wiener Werkstätte by Hermann Seiser, this hand-cast and wafer-thin porcelain creates an extremely soft and diffused light. With unusual forms softly emanating from within, it can be used for wall or ceiling luminaires. This glow is like the passage between two worlds, like the flow between clarity and paradox.

Craftsmanship at its finest:

These lamps are handmade in Hermann Seiser's studio in Vienna. The specially selected porcelain mass becomes very translucent at high temperature. This material property is used for the luminosity of the CERA 28. According to an original recipe by Hermann Seiser, the material is liquefied to such an extent that it can be filled into plaster molds using the hollow casting method.

Due to the thin wall thickness of 0.7 - 0.9 mm, the lamp blank must first be stored for 12 hours. Only then, the blank is firm to the touch and can be demolded.

After a pre-firing, the lamp blanks are ground by hand, dedusted and glazed transparent in a spraying process. A final 8-hour glaze firing at 1,250 degrees centigrade gives the lamps their final radiance before they pass through the light & quality control and are finally ready to light up new rooms.

About Georg Bechter Licht:

We are all about invention, about exploring and breaking down limits. Every solution we find becomes a chance for beauty and simplicity, allowing us to create something innovative and new, connecting craftsmanship and technical feasibility.
We need to shed light on everything. That is why we have taken a very close look at how our region and our home connects us to what we do in our work. For 85 percent of our added value lies in the Bregenzerwald region and therefore in our immediate surroundings. There are no long distances with us. Because so many good things are so close.
Beauty is a great contribution to sustainability. It is a proven fact that favorite objects last longer. They delight people, and they live up to their purpose.
This is what we commit our work at Georg Bechter Licht to: The merging of beauty and function, the transition from the invisible to invention, from the source to infinity. - https://georgbechterlicht.at/en
