Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation: High-Precision UVC Exposure Measurements from Gamma Scientific

Gamma Scientific announces the release of its Germicidal Ultraviolet Irradiation measurements system to perform irradiance and radiant exposure measurements in the UVC region of the spectrum. The system consists of the model 268UVC sensor, which measures 37 mm in diameter with an active area of 11 mm². The sensor, when paired with a Gamma Scientific optical power meter and energy meter, is capable of measuring irradiance levels ranging from 0.05 μW/cm² to 500 mW/cm².

With the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, a strong demand for UV disinfecting lamps has developed. UV light, especially the UVC region from 255 nm to 265 nm, has been shown to render viruses noninfectious by destroying their genetic material, DNA and RNA.

The 268UVC sensor is optimized for measurement at 254 nm, while other options for different wavelengths include the 268UVA and the 268BLUE, measuring 365 nm and 450 nm, respectively. Our wide range of optical meters and sensors is complemented by ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation by NVLAP (NVLAP lab code 200823-0), resulting in unmatched performance and custom configuration as required.
