IXYS Announces New High Voltage High Efficiency LED Driver

IXYS Integrated Circuits Division (ICD), Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of IXYS Corporation, announced the immediate availability of the IX9908 High Voltage, Dimmable LED Driver with PFC Control The IX9908 is a quasi-resonant controller that is optimized for dimmable off-line LED lighting applications. The IX9908 incorporates a precise pulse-width modulation (PWM) circuit and cycle-by-cycle peak current control to support flicker-free, phase-cut dimming with a high power factor correction (>98%). Utilizing IXYS ICD's high voltage IC expertise, the IX9908 is rated to 600V, making it suitable for both 120V and 240V offline applications.

Greater than 90% efficiency can be realized with the IX9908. An integrated high-voltage start up circuit with a digital soft-start provides quick turn on of LED lights. The IX9908 is available in an 8-lead SOIC package which allows for a compact LED driver PCB design.  

The IX9908 features extensive protection circuitry against over-voltage, shorted winding, excessive die temperature, and logic supply under-voltage.

The IX9908 is suitable for a wide range of LED lighting applications, including incandescent bulb replacements, decorative lighting, LED tubes, and downlights, and is a cost effective solution for dimmable LED bulbs.
