Mean Well Launched Cost Effective PLP-30/60 Series PCB Type LED Power Supplies

After introducing aluminum casing (CLG family) and fully enclosed plastic casing (PLN, ELN, LP family) LED power supplies, MEAN WELL launched another new product category, open frame type – PLP family, for the “low cost” and “built-in” installation of LED lighting related applications.

PLP-30/60 series are 30W/60W switching power supplies with 90~264VAC universal input range. Built-in active PFC function, PF>0.9 & EN61000-3-2 Class C (harmonic current) can be achieved for output loading higher than 75% and hence can fulfill the general requirement for lighting fixtures.

Thanks to the simplified single stage PFC topology, the required high power factor can be achieved economically. Efficiency of PLP-30/60 series are as high as 89% and hence can operate at full load between -30 ~ +60℃ by only free air convection, the highest ambient temperature can even reach 70℃ which may often request by lighting systems. Through adjustment of built-in potential meter, output current level of the PSU can be fine tuned between 75~100% rated value to comply with the requirement of LED characteristics. Other standard functions include short circuit, over load, and over voltage protections. Typical applications for these new PCB type LED driver units include small scale moving signs, LED-based decorative lighting, and LED stage lighting equipment which has its own system casing.
