Octagonal LED Light Engine for Great Flexibility of Wall-Mounted and Ceiling-Mounted Luminaires

Tridonic is marketing an LED system which offers particular benefits for circular and square ceiling and wall-mounted luminaires in the shape of TALEXXengine STARK CLE. Its octagonal design is faintly reminiscent of DD or toroidal compact fluorescent lamps but leaves them far behind when it comes to energy efficiency. 15 W is sufficient to achieve the same brightness as a 28 W DD compact fluorescent lamp. And with a service life of 50,000 hours, LED luminaires have a long future ahead of them.

The high efficiency of the LED module (up to 135 lm/W) is a distinctive feature of this LED system.  Used with the matched converter, this results in excellent system efficiency. Luminous flux at a practical operating temperature is as high as 1,900 lumens per LED module (hot lumen measurement at 65 °C). Tight colour tolerances (MacAdam 3) ensure that there are hardly any perceptible colour differences between individual LED modules and lighting is always uniform. Its reproducible white light has a colour rendering index (CRI) in excess of 80 and is available in  colour temperatures of 3000 K and 4000 K. This means that lighting quality is also fine.

Where the LED module is combined with an EM power LED emergency lighting control unit, LED systems can also take over an emergency lighting function. This is especially worthwhile in case of use in offices, shops, corridors or stairwells. EM powerLED control units are available for central and distributed emergency lighting modes. Because the board is available in two versions – with or without a central opening – an HF switch sensor can be fitted if required. This also provides the corridorFUNCTION, which makes it possible to dim lighting from 100 to 10% when a movement or brightness is detected. This user-friendly, flexible system solution takes up little space and gives luminaire designers plenty of scope for creative design.

TALEXXengine STARK CLE comprises an LED module, a converter and an optional HF switch sensor. The manufacturer's five-year system guarantee ensures high levels of reliability.
