LEDiL Announces New Products - LISA2-R Reflector, SOPHIE Linear Lens and STRADA-2X2 Lens Array

LEDiL announces the release of the new C12469_LISA2-R-PIN reflector, measuring just 9.9mm diameter and 6.5mm tall, its new SOPHIE Series, the industry’s first molded linear asymmetric secondary optic, and the extension of its versatile STRADA series of lenses to include lens arrays designed for Cree’s XLamp® XM-L and XP-G LEDs.

LISA2-R - A 9.9mm Diameter Reflector Optimized for a Wide Range of Lighting Class LEDs
This tiny reflector differs from other reflectors presently available by providing an even, homogeneous and aesthetically pleasing beam with a diffuse cut-off. The new LISA2-R supports a wide variety of single-die LEDs offered by the leading LED vendors, including Cree, Philips Lumileds, Osram, Nichia, Seoul and Sharp. LISA2-R produces a beam angle of 78⁰ to 86⁰ FWHM (depending on LED used) without the shadow and hot spots created by LEDs used without secondary optics. Almost 90% light intensity is available at 66⁰ full beam width. The small size permits dense population of LEDs for maximum light output in a space-constrained area.

The nearly square-wave beam angle produced by LISA2-R is ideal for general lighting of smaller spaces with minimum glare or hot-spots, or for casting a gentle-glow of energy efficient LED light in small display cabinets or for interior mood or effect lighting. The small size and inherent cool-to-the-touch benefit of LED technology facilitates the design of low-profile fixtures used in residential under-cabinet applications, in cove lighting, or to light storage compartments in emergency vehicles.

The impact-resistant polycarbonate used to manufacture the reflector is of a special, highly-reflective grade that does not require metallization to achieve peak performance of up to 92% efficiency.  The housing contains integrally molded location pins for precise location over the LED and the location pins can also be fastened to the PCB with an approved secondary adhesive. The material is RoHS compliant, rated for use up to 115⁰ C and meets UL 94 V-2 flammability rating.

SOPHIE – Sleek, Low-Profile Linear Lens for Display Cabinet Lighting
LEDiL announces its new SOPHIE Series, the industry’s first molded linear asymmetric secondary optic. The 150mm long strip, measuring 20mm wide by 10.5mm tall, casts an asymmetric beam of light in a forward peak approximately 35⁰. The unique profile of SOPHIE provides light cutoff after a short distance of less than one meter in length and depth, with a low percentage of backlight.

The light distribution pattern is optimized for use in a wide variety of applications, such as retail shelf and display lighting. The low-profile lens can be mounted inconspicuously in the top of the display unit, distributing crisp, energy-efficient, UV-free LED light to prominently display featured apparel, jewelry, footwear and more. The solution is also ideal for lighting storage compartments in emergency and rescue vehicles, bringing the durability, reliability and cool-to-the-touch operation of solid-state technology to rugged applications. In-home use is also envisioned, as light distributed from beneath a wall-mounted cabinet will glow evenly over a kitchen counter or home bar.

The wide-range of applications is matched by the wide-number of LEDs that can be used with SOPHIE, which is designed to provide even illumination when used with ¼ watt through 3W LEDs. Design flexibility is maximized as LED selection and spacing is not dedicated to a fixed location along the length of the lens.

Molded from optical-grade UV-stabilized PMMA, SOPHIE lenses are end-to-end stackable and have flanges that are easily concealed within the fixture. By utilizing each flange as a mounting feature, the lens can protrude less than 8mm to provide an extremely low-profile fixture.

STRADA 2x2 Lens Arrays - The Answer for Roadway and High-Bay Applications
Internal qualification tests continue to characterize the products for use with other high-power, single-emitter LEDs. Three arrays provide asymmetrical lighting patterns consistent with IESNA Type II through Type IV roadway lighting patterns, while two arrays meet high bay and commercial lighting needs.

The street lighting modules, designated as order codes C12360_STRADA-2X2-DNW (IESNA Type IV), C12362_STRADA-2X2-DWC (Type III) and C12419_Strada-2x2-AT (Type II), are 4-position (2x2) arrays on 25.4mm (1”) centers and 50mm square. The arrays contain a center mounting hole for screw fastening and, when stacked end-to-end or side-to-side, four additional mounting screws can be used to firmly secure the lenses in place.

The high bay modules contain optical elements arrayed on 25.4mm (1”) centers and each array shares the same optical elements. C12361_STRADA-2X2-HB is 4-position module (2x2) that is 50mm square, while C12345_HB-5X1 is a linear lens array (1x5) 25mm wide by 123mm in length. C12361 is targeted for high bay lighting and overhead commercial illumination, while C12345 targets aisle and linear path lighting in warehouses and in production facilities. As with the street lighting modules, fastening is achieved through the use of screws, adhesives, or both.

Molded from optical grade PMMA acrylic to offer outstanding UV resistance, the arrays offer outstanding beam control and greater than 90% light transmission efficiency. Integral mounting pins ensure proper positioning of each lens facet over the LED. The modules are easily and quickly fastened with screws or with approved adhesives, or with both.
