3rd Generation LEDs Make Barco Video Walls More than 33 Percent Brighter

Barco, a global market leader in professional visualization solutions, is introducing a new generation of LEDs in its liquid-cooled LED video walls. This 3rd generation boosts brightness levels by no less than 33%, making Barco video wall cubes the brightest on the market today. Additionally, when operating at today's standard brightness levels, the new LEDs consume 33% less power, thus significantly reducing the video wall's ecological footprint.

Since their market introduction, Barco's LED video walls have been praised for both image quality and long lifetime. This is mainly due to a number of innovations, including the Sense6 automatic calibration and liquid cooling technology, which assure that Barco video walls display constant quality images across all modules of the video wall while operating completely maintenance-free for several years.

The 3rd generation LEDs, which are now being introduced in Barco's complete portfolio of LED video walls, confirm the company's position as a pioneer in control room technology. Producing 33% more brightness than the current models, these new LEDs boost the brightness levels of LED video walls to meet – and even exceed – lamp-based video walls. As a case in point: Barco's OVL cubes are the first LED-based video walls to cross the 1,000 lumens barrier.

Less energy, more power:

In addition to the enhanced brightness, the 3rd generation LEDs also use significantly less power to match the performance of today's LEDs. Operating at the same brightness levels, the 3G LEDs consume a whopping 33% less electricity. This not only contributes to sharply reducing power costs but also helps companies comply with the stringent regulations on energy consumption.

LED for any control room:
“With the new generation of LEDs, all control rooms can be fitted with a Barco video wall, even when lighting conditions are particularly challenging,” says Peter Baumgärtner, Product Manager Video Walls at Barco. “This further expands the usability of our video walls and greatly contributes to the viewing comfort of operators. For the OLS series of 3D video walls, the enhanced brightness is particularly important, because it partially compensates for the traditional loss in brightness caused by 3D goggles. By also cutting the power consumption, we contribute to the energy-efficiency of enterprises.”
