LED Engin’s New 7mm LED Emitter Boosts Output by 250% to 1300 lumens

LED Engin, Inc., a leader in high lumen density LED products, announces the LZ9 LuxiGen™ emitter, a new family of devices that deliver 2.5 times the lumens of existing LZ4 products within the same 7mm x 7mm footprint. The LZ9 emitter more than doubles the Lux on Target™, making it ideal for directional lighting fixtures such as the spot, accent and downlighting used in retail and commercial applications.

LZ9 Features:
• Color Temperatures:  2700K / 3000K / 3500K / 4000K/ 5500K / 6500K
• 1300 lm performance at 3000K; 1450 lm performance at 5500K
• CRI 90 option available
• 3 parallel strings of 3 die in series configuration
• Compact 7mm x 7mm form factor for superior flux density
• Industry-leading Lux-on-Target performance for directional applications when combined with LuxiGen TIR lenses
• Available as emitter only or mounted on Metal Core PCB for easy assembly

LED Engin also offers a family of secondary total internal reflection (TIR) lenses in Spot, Narrow Flood and Flood beams. The LuxiGen single emitter/ single lens combination, available in color temperatures ranging from 2700K Warm White to 6500K Cool White,  provides the equivalent performance of a 75W PAR20 or PAR30 halogen source (reference: ENERGY STAR® Integral Lamp Center Beam Intensity Benchmark Tool).  The LZ9-series is the first LuxiGen series to be introduced with both standard CRI of 85 and a CRI 90 option for applications that demand the highest levels of color rendering.

With 1300 lumens at 3000K and 1450 lumens at 5500K color temperatures, the LZ9 emitter incorporates 9 die in a compact, 3 x 3 series-parallel configuration, package and, like the rest of the LuxiGen platform, uses a patented multi-layer ceramic substrate engineered to minimize stress on the die. The substrate has low thermal resistance to lower the junction temperature of the die  for consistent performance over the service life of the product.

The LZ9 emitter and TIR lens combination leads the industry in terms of ‘lux efficacy’ or lux/Watt performance, a term that is more accurate than lumens/Watt to describe the usable light delivered in downlighting applications.

“The LuxiGen LZ9 emitter fills a gap in our product offering in the often-demanded 1000 lumen range for complete systems which are commonly used to replace 50W and 75W halogen sources,” says Uwe Thomas, VP of Product Management.  “With the addition of the LZ9, LED Engin continues its focus on maximizing Lux on Target and lux efficacy at all power levels, giving our customers the freedom and flexibility to design for a range of applications.”

The new LZ9 emitters are available now from LED Engin, and additional information can be found at www.ledengin.com/products/emitters/#LZ9
