Verbatim Launches Zero Flicker, Anti-Glare LED Ceiling Panels

Verbatim has launched a set of high performance zero flicker LED ceiling panels available with two different diffusers: a prismatic version to produce soft, diffuse lighting that avoids uncomfortable glare in workspace areas and a high lumen output option for use in corridors and hallways.

Available in a standard 600 x 600 mm size with ultra-thin white housing for discreet integration into suspended ceiling grids as inlays, the 45 W LED panels use polycarbonate diffusers which pass a glow wire test at 850°C, a requirement for lighting fixtures in publicly accessible buildings governed by European standards (EN60598-1) in many EU countries.

As a result of using its advanced LED driver, Verbatim’s LED panels also eliminate flicker. Flicker is the temporal variation of emitted light, which can cause visual discomfort and many studies have suggested that flicker peaking at certain wavelengths can cause eye-strain, loss of concentration and headaches. Potentially, there are more severe health concerns for end-users suffering from epilepsy, migraine or chronic fatigue syndrome.

Equally important when it comes to health and safety in the workplace, Verbatim’s LED panels provide a diffused light with a Unified Glare Rating (UGR) of less than 19. UGR, the principle metric for glare control regulated by European standard EN12464-1, indicates the approximate glare of luminaires for a given observer at a particular location and arrangement of luminaires in a rectangular room. In offices, the maximum UGR value allowed is 19 for work areas, 22 for the reception area, and 25 for corridors.

“Combined with excellent energy efficiency and a long lifetime of 50,000 hours, Verbatim’s flicker-free, anti-glare LED panels provide a better lighting environment that is safe, comfortable and productive for those working in offices, schools, universities and other workspaces. Additionally, the panels offer far greater efficacy, reliability and longer life than fluorescent lighting equivalents,” comments Dick C. Hoogerdijk, General Manager LED EUMEA, Verbatim.

Due to its innovative edge-lit technology offering a perfectly homogeneous lit surface, the panel housing is extremely flat. The LED panels also deliver controlled luminance thanks to its professional optic and advanced luminance control.

Verbatim’s standard high lumen LED panel (product number 52440) produces a 4000 lm luminous flux and luminous efficacy of 89 lm/W. With its focus on anti-glare, the prismatic LED panel (52441) delivers a 3800 lm luminous flux and luminous efficacy of 84 lm/W.
