Session I: MARKET VIEW

The semiconductor chemical composition of quantum dots is a concern as new QD containing products are introduced into the marketplace. The highest performing QD materials currently contain cadmium.  The current QD materials that do not contain heavy metals in their core or shells exhibit less optical stability and efficiency with broader emission spectra.  As display manufacturers target new color and efficiency performance in their products using QDs, they also have environmental health and safety criteria that weigh heavily into new product development.
