The quantum dots market is expected to grow at an impressive CAGR rate; it holds a great potential to cater to various industries such as consumer electronics, healthcare, and environmental monitoring. Quantum dots are currently used in many display applications because of their advantages such as low energy consumption and vibrant color displays. They also continue to hold promise in emerging areas outside of displays such as solar and imaging. You will want to make sure you attend this innovative session, where top experts will discuss hot market trends and key needs for the continued penetration of QD technology into various markets.

Session II: QD MAKER

Performance (efficiency, stability, chemical compatibility, optical emission peak width) starts with the quality of the semiconductor core and follows with the subsequent growth of semiconductor shells.  The shell growths protect the optically active core from the chemical environment that the QDs are put into.  The surface can be tailored with different molecules to impart the desired chemical and optical properties of the QDs and how they interact with their surroundings.  The chemical composition, shape, and size of the core, the shells, and the surface, dictate the performance, cost, and environmental impact of the final QD material and are what QD manufacturers manipulate to optimize QDs for any given application and environment. Join us for this well rounded and informative session, where you will hear from the individuals at the forefront of this technology.

Alternative materials to cadmium continues to be an area of research interest both in industry and academia.  Come hear from key leaders in several types of QD materials will share their approaches, and latest results in this exciting space.

Quantum Dot technology, in all cases, is delivered to market in component form.  However, there is an increasing number of component form factors that are possible, and an increasing number of companies participating at this level of the supply chain. Tune in to this stimulating session where we will hear from several such component suppliers about their set of innovations, advantages, and concerns.

Consumer electronics makers deliver products that contain quantum dots to the end consumer.  These electronics makers and brand owners thus play a most critical role in determining how QDs reach the market and in what quantities, and how they are marketed to consumers.  Several top players will speak about their successes, reasons for adoption, and approaches to the market so its guaranteed to be a thought provoking session you won’t want to miss out on!

In 2016, several other non-display applications of quantum dots have been gaining momentum in the press and the market.  In this cutting edge group of presentations, we focus on solar, imaging, and sensing applications as next potential markets to experience the quantum dot revolution.

Session VII: EH&S

The semiconductor chemical composition of quantum dots is a concern as new QD containing products are introduced into the marketplace. The highest performing QD materials currently contain cadmium.  The current QD materials that do not contain heavy metals in their core or shells exhibit less optical stability and efficiency with broader emission spectra.  As display manufacturers target new color and efficiency performance in their products using QDs, they also have environmental health and safety criteria that weigh heavily into new product development. Make sure to sit in on this session where these regulatory, as well as alternative material issues, will be eagerly discussed among the top thought leaders.
