Curtains Up for Kreios R Modules: The Next Generation of Efficient Special Effect Lighting

OSRAM expands its product portfolio with LED solutions for the entertainment, architainment and special effects lighting market. With Kreios R, the company presents a robust LED module for variable use in a number of different applications.

Until recently, professionals tended to use halogen lights for lighting production of spectacular stage shows or buildings; now, though, OSRAM Kreios R offers a particularly energy-efficient, durable and robust alternative. Compact, available in light colours white, red, blue and green and with two different reflectors (6° and 10°), this module with its flexible applications impresses with its very high axial luminous intensity, achieved with the aid of four highly efficient light diodes in combination with an optimised reflector design. These LED modules are suitable for a wide range of different applications and are easy to integrate into different luminaires. Extensive lifetime tests throughout the development process have made OSRAM Kreios R a robust light source suitable for a wide range of applications. It will continue to perform even when conditions turn somewhat rougher, for example as the result of vibrations during a concert.

Energy-efficiency and reduced maintenance requirements:
Energy efficiency is a particular hallmark of Kreios R LED systems. With 2000cd per Watt, Kreios R with white LEDs reaches a 10x higher intensity than a comparable halogen solution (approx. 200cd/W). For example a 300W narrow spot halogen reflector lamp (68 kcd) can be replaced by only two Kreios R modules with a total of 38 W (76 kcd) which results in further saving potentials.

There is no need for coloured filters required for conventional lamps, as the Kreios R is available with LEDs in the colors white, red, green and blue. In addition to energy savings, these systems also make another significant contribution toward lower operating costs: considerable savings can be achieved in the maintenance costs, especially in difficult to reach areas (such as high ceilings), because Kreios R modules can be used continuously for more than three years. In terms of durability, they are also far superior to other lamps: The service life of a halogen lamp amounts to approx. 3000 hours, that of a LED solution to at least 30,000 hours.
