Lambda Research Corporation Introduces opsira robogonio to the US LED Lighting Community

Lambda Research Corporation, the leading designer and manufacturer of illumination and optical design software, announces the introduction of the robogonio from opsira, the first multi-functional goniometer that incorporates 6-axis measurement of angular-dependent photo- and radiometric parameters to combine the advantages of different conventional goniometer types into one device.

As the exclusive distributor of opsira products in the United States, Lambda Research Corporation combines ray data produced by robogonio with TracePro and other optical design and illumination software to deliver a complete, comprehensive product for design and analysis of illumination systems.

The robogonio is a revolutionary design concept through the incorporation of an industrial robot that provides flexibility in the positioning of light samples for measurement of light sources and luminaires. With a variety of mechanical variances, as well as the ability for manipulation of measurement angles, this goniometer can scan virtually any geometry in the traditional A, B, or C planes by using one single measurement system. This saves the user time by eliminating the need to move the test material and recalibrate the unit, thus increasing accuracy and productivity.

robogonio has both near-field and far-field capabilities. Early in a project, for example, a user might measure sources in the near field and use the software to derive ray data. Later, robogonio can be used to measure the actual far field luminous intensity pattern or plane illumination distribution. And luminaire output can be generated in IES format for direct use with lighting design software, such as LiteStar 4D, AGi32, or Dialux.

Certified by the German independent testing group TÜV, robogonio has been classified in the highest accuracy tier gonio-photometers available in the world today. With an angular repeatability better than 0.005 degrees, combined with robust and reliable mechanical setup, robogonio enables highly accurate and complete photometric measurement quickly and with a high degree of flexibility.

“With opsira’s long-standing reputation for measurement quality and TracePro’s reputation for accuracy, performance, and ease of use, these products combined provide a world-class optical systems design capability,” said Dr. Edward Freniere, President of Lambda Research Corporation.

TracePro streamlines the prototype to manufacturing process for illumination systems with a familiar CAD interface, 3D optimization, extensive model library, and seamless interoperability with popular CAD systems. Combined with the OSLO lens design & optimization system, Lambda Research Corporation encapsulates decades of optical engineering experience and expertise into a comprehensive design environment.
