Ray Files for OSRAM LEDs

OSRAM is the first LED manufacturer in the world to provide direct internet access to the ray data for its light emitting diodes. The ray files indicate the pattern in which light is emitted from an LED and include the coordinates of the emission point, the direction of emission, the intensity and the wavelength.

The internet information covers almost the entire LED portfolio, including infrared emitter diodes (IREDs). “Our customers have access to all the latest data at any time of the day or night so it is now even easier for them to plan their lighting systems, test the LEDs and produce their lighting concepts”, said Wolfgang Lex, head of the LED Business Unit.

All the ray data, a customer CAD model for board design (3D design and package) and information on how to use this data can be downloaded from www.osram-os.com/ray-files. The information is supplied immediately. There are no circuitous routes and no long lists of supplementary questions to answer. For the product information the focus is on small distances so that external optics and light guides can be customized. OSRAM Opto Semiconductors enables not only LED specialists to make professional use of semiconductor technology. “Our data on the internet also gives new customers a chance to develop LED solutions themselves without having to rely on external partners”, added Wolfgang Lex.
