Nuventix Doubles Lumen Output for PAR38 LED Bulbs

Nuventix, Inc., today unveiled a new thermal management reference design, including electronic drive, that simplifies development and significantly improves lumen output of LED bulbs for PAR38 sockets. The Nuventix SynJet cooling engine and heat sink provides lighting designers with a complete system for achieving a more than 2,000 lumen LED array that fits into the AmericanNational Standards Institute (ANSI) PAR38 form factor – more than doubling today’s lumen output for PAR38 LED bulbs. The design features Texas Instruments’ (TI) custom electronic drive control device, which enables a smaller form factor by integrating discrete components into a single integrated circuit (IC).

“SynJet cooled LED lights are the brightest and most reliable designs in the industry. Thelumen output that we are able to achieve through the PAR38 reference designdoesn’t exist today and can’t exist without a SynJet in the lamp,” said Jim Balthazar, CEO and president of Nuventix. “This design is advancing the amount of light output achievable in the ANSI PAR38 form factor and opens up new segments in the lighting market for high-lumen, retrofit LED lamps.”

The NuventixSynJet is the smallest, most reliable, adaptable and powerful thermal management solution in the solid-state lighting industry. The SynJet’s patented synthetic jet cooling technology enables up to 40 watts of cooling in the ANSI PAR38 reference design, nearly doubling what passive cooling solutions are able to achieve. Additionally, the SynJet’s small size and built-in TI custom drive control device offers designers increased flexibility with design options enabling more lumens in a smaller form factor – thereby using fewer LEDs.
