Vishay Releases Industry-First Amber,Yellow and White Power SMD LEDs in CLCC-2 Flat Ceramic Package

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today released the industry’s first series of high-intensity amber and yellow power SMD LEDs in the CLCC-2 flat ceramic package with driving currents up to 400 mA, and the industry's first series of high-intensity white power SMD LEDs in the CLCC-2 flat ceramic package.

Amber and Yellow Power SMD LEDs in CLCC-2 Flat Ceramic Package With 400-mA Driving Current and Ultra-Low 0.75-mm Profile:
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today released the industry’s first series of high-intensity amber and yellow power SMD LEDs in the CLCC-2 flat ceramic package with driving currents up to 400 mA. The robust and light-efficient VLMK82.. and VLMY82.. devices offer low thermal resistance of 20 K/W and high optical power from 5600 mcd to 14000 mcd for thermal-sensitive applications.

With an ultra-low profile of only 0.75 mm, the CLCC-2 flat ceramic package of the VLMK82.. and VLMY82.. LEDs allows the additional current drive for a maximum light output while maintaining a high service life of up to 50,000 hours, making them ideal light sources in space-limited applications where thermal management is a key consideration.

With excellent efficiencies in brightness, lifetime, and power savings in a compact package (3.3 mm x 3.4 mm), the Vishay CLCC-2 devices are optimized for backlighting and illumination in automotive and transport, consumer, and general applications. Typical end products include retail and window displays; signage and graphics; household appliances; and automotive instrument panels and exterior lighting, such as brake lights and turn signals.

Utilizing AlInGaP technology, the amber VLMK82.. LEDs offer optical power from 7100 mcd to 14000 mcd and a typical luminous flux of 28000 mlm. The yellow VLMY82.. devices provide optical power from 5600 mcd to 11200 mcd and a luminous flux of 26000 mlm. Both LEDs feature optical efficiency of 40 lm/W at 100 mA, a luminous intensity ratio per package unit of IV max/IV min ≤ 1.6, and 60° half-intensity angle.

The new devices are compatible with IR-reflow solder processes, in accordance with CECC 00802 and J-STD-020C. Preconditioned according to JEDEC Level 4 standards, the CLCC-2 flat package is lead (Pb)-free and RoHS-compliant. The LEDs are automotive qualified AEC-Q101 and offer an ESD-withstand voltage up to 2 kV in accordance with JESD22-A114-B.

Samples and production quantities of the new VLMK82.. and VLMY82.. power SMD LEDs are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.

White Power SMD LEDs in CLCC-2 Flat Ceramic Package With Ultra-Low 0.75-mm Profile:
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today released the industry.s first series of high-intensity white power SMD LEDs in the CLCC-2 flat ceramic package. The robust and light-efficient VLMW82.. devices offer low thermal resistance of 20 K/W and high optical power from 9000 mcd to 18000 mcd for thermal-sensitive applications.

With an ultra-low profile of only 0.75 mm, the CLCC-2 flat ceramic package of the VLMW82.. LEDs allows the additional current drive for a maximum light output while maintaining a high service life of up to 50,000 hours, making them ideal light sources in space-limited applications where thermal management is a key consideration.

The new devices are optimized for display backlighting and illumination in automotive and transport, consumer, and general applications. An eco-friendly alternative to CCFL display backlighting, the Vishay CLCC-2 LED offers excellent efficiencies in brightness, lifetime and power savings in a compact package (3.3 mm x 3.4 mm). Typical end products include flashes for cameras; retail and window displays; emergency lighting and signs; household appliances; and automotive instrument panels and exterior lighting, such as brake lights and turn signals.

Utilizing InGaN technology, the LEDs offer a typical luminous flux of 35000 mlm and optical efficiency of 40 lm/W at 100 mA. The devices feature a luminous intensity ratio per package unit of IV max/IV min ≤ 1.6, forward voltage up to 4.3 V, and 60° half-intensity angle.

The VLMW82.. LEDs are compatible with IR-reflow solder processes, in accordance with CECC 00802 and J-STD-020C. Preconditioned according to JEDEC Level 4 standards, the CLCC-2 flat package is lead (Pb)-free and RoHS-compliant. The devices are automotive qualified AEC-Q101 and offer an ESD-withstand voltage up to 1 kV in accordance with JESD22-A114-B.

Samples of the new VLMW82.. series of high-intensity white power SMD LEDs are available now. Production quantities will be available in July 2008, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.
