Gallium Claims New Product Family to beTwice as Efficient as Compact Fluorescent Downlights

Gallium Lighting announces the introduction of a high-performance LED downlight featuring the Cree XLamp® XR-E LED. The Gallium GS6-CXRE luminaire delivers more than 1,300 lumens while reducing energy consumption by up to 60% relative to comparable compact fluorescent downlights.

Gallium's advanced GS6 fixture was developed specifically for high-performance white LEDs.  It features 1.5" (38mm) spacing between LEDs and a heavy-duty heat dissipation system to maximize efficiency and LED life, and a 45º shielding angle to maximize visual comfort.  With the XR-E LED, the GS6 downlight fixture now achieves a total luminaire efficacy of up to 65 lumens per watt.

"LED technology is advancing at an astonishing rate," said Keith Bahde, Ph.D., President of Gallium Lighting.  "In the last twelve months, we have been able to boost the light output of our GS6 luminaire by 49%, while reducing the energy consumption by 18%.  It can now provide more light than most 6-inch 32-watt compact fluorescent downlights while consuming only about half as much energy.  We can now demonstrate a three-year payback in many applications."

FEATURES:
•  The  Gallium  GS6-CXRE  features  sixteen  Cree  XRE  power LEDs providing unsurpassed performance:
-  LED efficacy up to 93 lumens per watt - 20% higher than the most efficient compact fluorescent lamps.
-  Hemispherical light distribution providing high optical efficiency, resulting in luminaire efficacy up to 65 lumens per watt.
-  50,000 hour service life, equating to 25 years when operated during normal business hours.
•  1.5” (38mm) LED spacing and heavy duty heat sink maintain junction temperature below 75°C at 25°C ambient (well below Cree’s limit of 150°C) to maximize efficacy and prolong life.
•  Drivers and printed circuit board are accessible from below the fixture. A quick disconnect plug simplifies board replacement.
•  Optional dimming drivers provide  full  range  (0-100%)  flickerfreedimming with standard incandescent dimmers.
•  The  18  gauge  steel  housing  is  compatible  with  ceiling materials up to 1" (25mm) thick.
•  Standard  16-cell  reflector  is  constructed  of  Alanod  685  G3 grade aluminum and provides a 45° shielding angle.
•  The fixture is UL listed for indoor applications, damp locations, insulation  contact  (IC),  and  approved  for  eight  #12  AWG conductors (four in, four out) feed-through 75°C branch wiring.
•  Rated  for  ambient  temperatures  of  -40°C  (-40°F)  to  60°C (140°F).
•  Environmentally-friendly, mercury-free technology.
•  Fixture manufactured in USA. 3-year warranty on all parts.

APPLICATIONS:
The  1,290  lumen  version  of  the  GS6-CXRE  is  a  direct replacement  for  a  comparable  26-watt  compact  fluorescent downlight. The 1,710 lumen version replaces a  typical 32-watt compact fluorescent downlight. Both consume only 21 watts.

Gallium Lighting is a leading manufacturer of architectural LED downlighting for commercial buildings and high-end residences.
