PHILIPS SOLID-STATE LIGHTING SOLUTIONS AND BOCA FLASHER SIGN LICENSING AGREEMENT

Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions, the new entity formed by Philips' acquisition of Color Kinetics, today announced that Boca Flasher has licensed its worldwide patent portfolio, allowing for increased product depth and capabilities of Boca Flasher's intelligent LED lighting products.

Boca Flasher is a US manufacturer of LED-based fixtures and modules for a diverse group of vertical markets such as architectural, retail, signage and entertainment. Its intelligent LED product lines can now utilize Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions' proprietary control methods to generate millions of colors and color-changing effects without the maintenance-intensive use of colored gels or filters. The global license will apply to sales of Boca Flasher products in all markets covered by Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions' patent portfolio.

"Once considered a novelty, LED technology is increasingly shaping the future of the lighting industry, and we believe that third-party product development will only help to accelerate widespread adoption. Our mission in part is to fuel that development through licensing relationships built on our strong intellectual property," said Bill Sims, CEO, Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions. "We're pleased to work with companies like Boca Flasher who recognize the value and competitive advantage our IP can afford."

"We believe that demand for LED lighting will continue to increase as the technology progresses and becomes even more competitive with traditional light sources," said Myung Park, President, Boca Flasher. "Given the market opportunities ahead, we believe it's important to form a cooperative relationship with a leader like Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions and we look forward to continued growth in the years to come."

Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions' patent portfolio focuses on a range of digital technologies and methods of controlling LED sources for a variety of lighting applications and environments. The portfolio today includes 80 issued U.S. and foreign patents and over 170 applications pending worldwide.
