Groom Energy and Digital Lumens Cut Americold's Energy Costs for Lighting by 90% with Multi-Site Lighting Upgrade
Groom Energy and Digital Lumens today announced the installation of Digital Lumens' Intelligent LED Lighting Systems at Americold facilities located in Massachusetts, Utah and Wisconsin. The new upgrades produce higher quality lighting and reduce overall energy consumption up to 90 percent or 2.3 million kilowatt hours (kWhs) annually. Over the coming months, Groom Energy and Americold are scheduled to upgrade facilities in Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois and Texas. The projects will reduce an additional 3.3 million kWhs and 3.25 million pounds of carbon dioxide annually. Read more »

Ardo UK Mobile Racking Facility Reduces Annual Lighting-Related Energy Costs by 97% With Digital Lumens Intelligent LED Lighting System Digital Lumens today announced that Ardo UK, a leading supplier of high-quality frozen fruit, vegetables and carbohydrates (potato, rice and pasta), has upgraded an 80,000-cubic-meter mobile racking cold storage facility in Kent, England to the Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System, saving 97% of its lighting-related energy costs annually. The system combines wirelessly networked intelligent LED fixtures with LightRules lighting management software to provide Ardo UK with massive energy savings -- more than 795,656 kWhs of lighting and refrigeration annually -- while eliminating more than 427.7 metric tons of CO2. GE Lighting Helps School Campus Reduce Energy Costs by More Than $200,000 Annually Cuyahoga Valley Career Center (CVCC) recently called on GE Lighting, in conjunction with CCG Energy Solutions, to create a lighting equation that would result in better quality light and lower energy and life-cycle maintenance costs. Part of a $2.6 million comprehensive energy project, the school’s campus underwent a lighting upgrade that included state-of-the-art outdoor GE Evolve™ LED Area Lights, rooftop daylighting panels with automatic dimming, and new high-efficiency fluorescent fixtures utilizing UltraMax® ballasts and Watt-Miser® extended life lamps throughout the building. In addition to the lighting improvements, mechanical upgrades with HVAC controls and a new building automation system were implemented to provide savings of more than $200,000 annually. Read more »

Arraiolos, Portugal: 50% of Energy Savings Thanks to LED Technology by Osram OS As of late, the streets in the historic centre of Arraiolos in Portugal have been lit up entirely by energy-efficient lighting diode technology (LED), used in combination with an intelligent lighting management system. This project, the first of its kind in the entire country, was realised by Schréder, a manufacturing company for street lighting, in cooperation with OSRAM Opto Semiconductors.
