The Osram Parathom Classic A 60 with 12 Watt is the world's first LED lamp shaped like an incandescent lamp that fully replaces a conventional 60 Watt bulb – and at the same time cuts energy consumption by up to 90 percent. Innovatively designed, it is infinitely dimmable and has an average lamp life of 25,000 hours. It will be available from retail outlets at a price of around EUR 49.99 starting September 1.

This rechargeable LED bulb may function as a normal bulb most of the time, but it has extra features that’ll keep you feeling safe and secure even when power lines go down. These were created by a Chinese company called Magic Bulb that decided to show off their creation at IFA. These bulbs use all of 4 watts of power while shining as brightly as a 50W bulb. Within each bulb is a rechargeable battery that’ll keep the light running for up to 3 hours in the event of a power outage. If you need to run around and inspect the source of your power troubles these bulbs also have a handle that can be extended to turn the bulb into a flashlight. They’ll live for up to 20,000 hours. They’re hoping to sell these for $30-$40. That may seem like a lot for an ordinary light bulb, but you don’t really need to absolutely fill your home with these versatile bulbs.

Mitsubishi Chemical Announces Start of Verbatim® Brand LED Light Bulb Sales in Europe
Mitsubishi Kagaku Media Co., Ltd (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Shigenori Otsuka) announced that it has started sales of its Verbatim brand LED light bulbs in the European market. The LED light bulbs were exhibited at the Verbatim booth at the IFA 2010 consumer electronics show held earlier this month in Berlin, where business talks were also conducted and continue at present. Verbatim LED light bulbs are based on technologies developed by Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, the parent company of Mitsubishi Kagaku Media, and are highly rated for their reliability. As such, the future of the lineup garners much expectation. They are available from now throughout Europe, and will next be introduced in America, followed then by the Asia-Pacific area including Japan.
