EnOcean Adds New IoT Starter Kit to Product Portfolio EnOcean, a pioneer of energy harvesting and wireless IoT communications, today released a starter kit that simplifies the integration of EnOcean wireless sensors with Aruba Wi-Fi access points. Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, and EnOcean have partnered to facilitate the integration of IoT sensors into existing IT infrastructure, levering IT security mechanisms to protect IoT data and devices. Used in conjunction with a separately purchased Aruba access point, the new IoT starter kit named EISKA for the European market and EISKU for the North American market includes an EnOcean EMSIx multisensor, an Easyfit wireless switch, an EnOcean USB stick, and demonstration software. Delta Acquires Lighting Solution Brand Amerlux To Enhance its IoT-based Green Solutions for Smart Buildings and Cities Delta Electronics, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "Delta"), a global provider of power and thermal management solutions, and Amerlux, LLC (hereinafter referred to as "Amerlux"), a U.S.-based LED architectural lighting solutions company, today announced the signing of a definitive agreement pursuant to which Delta Electronics (Netherlands) B.V., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Delta, will acquire 100% of Amerlux's interests for USD 90,000,000 (approx. NTD 2,769,300). The transaction is expected to close during the second quarter of 2019. The aforementioned agreement includes an earn-out mechanism in which Delta will pay an additional pre-established amount for the transaction should Amerlux's 2019 EBITDA(1) and revenue reach a predetermined target. At the same time, Internet of Things (IoT) has been rapidly evolving. Added electronics are expected to add an additional 70% to overall heat generation. Therefore, solving thermal problems will become more important again; on a par with footprint area and cost. Prof. Mehmet Arik, Director of EVATEG Center for Energy Efficient Electronics and Lighting Technologies at the Ozyegin University, and Umut Zeynep Uras, master student at the Ozyegin University, present some of the current, local, hotspot thermal issues caused by tight packaging. Osram Acquires Leading U.S. IoT Software Platform Provider Digital Lumens Osram has agreed to acquire Digital Lumens Inc., a U.S. company based in Boston, Massachusetts that specializes in industrial IoT solutions. Founded in 2008, Digital Lumens employs 65 people and in the last fiscal year generated sales in the mid-double-digit millions (USD). The Digital Lumens software platform can be used to run applications covering everything from intelligent lighting control, energy use, and security systems to the measurement of environmental parameters such as air quality. The cloud-based platform is compatible with components and hardware of other manufacturers. Digital Lumens has built a strong customer base for industrial IoT solutions, with more than 2,500 installations. Read more »
