Asia’s Most Influential Lighting and LED Event Announces Increased Visitor Numbers Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition celebrated another successful edition as more than 165,000 visitors (5% increase from 2017) descended on the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou from June 9 ‒ 12. A total of 2,602 exhibitors demonstrated the latest in lighting and LED products and solutions across 19 halls and 195,000 sqm of exhibition space. The main thoroughfare at the exhibition ¬– The Pearl Promenade – was also a hive of activity as the THINKLIGHT: Embracing Changes Forum enticed thousands of visitors to a programme of talks from some of the world’s leading authorities in lighting concepts, technology and design. 19th CIOE - China International OPTOELECTRONIC EXPO 57,348 visitors from 67 countries and regions attended CIOE 2017, which is an increase of 13% compared to last year. 110,000m2 exhibition area presenting the entire optoelectronic ecosystem. 1,668 exhibitors from 34 countries and regions attended, which is an increase of 6% from last year. 3,653 optoelectronic brands were presented, which is an increase of 15% compared to last year. First LightingEurope Summit – An Outstanding Figure in the Lighting Branch, Hands Over His Responsibilities Diederik de Stoppelaar, one of the most influential and esteemed personalities in the lighting branch, has retired and passed over his responsibilities to Ourania Georgoutsakou. One of his last activities was initiating the first LightingEurope Summit, a one-day program, where a number of respected and eloquent lecturers were invited to speak. The venue, The Steigenberg Wiltcher's, in Brussels, was a good choice for this first of its kind event. About 150 lighting specialists, friends, and colleagues of Diederik de Stoppelaar attended the conference and farewell event. Read more »

Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition 2016 Gathered a Record 140,000+ Visitors from Around the World Taking the lighting sector’s transformation in stride, the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition (GILE) wrapped up its 21st edition with visitor figures reaching a record high. The expo maintains its steady position as an influential and comprehensive lighting and LED event by receiving strong industry support – support that was demonstrated through its largest annouced visitor figures in decades. The 2016 edition, held from 9 – 12 June at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou, welcomed 145,080 visitors (2015: 135,990) – more than a six percent increase from last year’s numbers – from 137 countries and regions. These professionals hailed from China as well as from various developed and emerging markets worldwide. The top 10 overseas visiting countries and regions were Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, the US, Australia, Italy and Germany. Read more »

LpS 2016 - The Leading European Lighting Conference Forecasts Further Transformations The sixth LED professional Symposium +Expo opened its doors on September 20th, in Bregenz, Austria. About 1,500 lighting professionals and over 100 exhibitors took part in Europe’s foremost lighting conference and exhibition. Experts from academia and industry, including Prof. Shuji Nakamura, Nobel Laureate in Physics 2014, discussed cutting edge findings and explored new technologies and applied them to business models and use cases in applications. The conversion of lighting, which started with LED and OLED light sources, will continue with new technologies such as communication tools and IoT. The LpS 2016 also showed that lighting will be transformed into specific solutions for things such as Horticulture Lighting, Automotive Lighting and Indoor and Outdoor Lighting.
